One of the most important aspects of education is assessing student learning and obtaining data to define instructional practices. During my course study in E6510, Measurement and Assessment in Education, we studied the basic theory behind assessment and the components that make up an effective assessment. One particular assignment gave the opportunity to research and defines several definitions of terms used in the realm of assessment.
As I reflect on my growth throughout this program, I realize that this particular assignment has had a deep impact on me as a teacher. It has caused me to think about and transform the way I assess my students learning. More importantly, it has given me the opportunity to assess myself and the effectiveness of my practice. With an understanding of these terms, I am able to look more efficiently at both the holistic view of my students achievement and at each individual students.
